About Proyecto Charanguero
Proyecto Charanguero was founded by Alex Godinez in 2003. Perhaps the most obvious distinction that separates Proyecto Charanguero from other salsa orchestras is its instrumentation - while the rhythm section remains the same (congas, timbales, bass, piano) the use of flutes and strings (violins and cello) instead of a brass section creates a distinct sound and texture to an already beautiful and complex form of music. This style of music is known as charanga.
